Professional Eye Health Examinations
We recommend the following intervals for your eye health examinations:
- Annually for children under 19 and adults over 65
- A child’s first eye exam should be by age two, early if any concerns arise
- Every 12 to 18 months for contact lens wearers
- Every two years for healthy adults aged 19 to 64
- Every year for adults with medical conditions such as but not limited to diabetes, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma or as advised by your doctor.
- Immediately, if you are experiencing any vision difficulties or discomfort
Things to remember for your eye examinations
- Bring/wear your CURRENT glasses
- If you are new to our office and wear contacts - bring your contact lense BOXES so we know what you are wearing. Please wear your glasses to your appointment.
- A WRITTEN list of your current medication/s and medication allergies
- A pair of prescription sunglasses or someone to drive you home after your dilation drops.
Eye examinations are covered through your care card for children under 19 and adults over 65. Healthy adults between 19 and 65 have not been covered since 2001 – fees will apply to your eye health examinations.
